College Exhibition: RCA/GM - Fast Forward 2049
Wed, 06 May 2009First year students at the Royal College of Art recently held an exhibition at the London Transport Museum commemorating the 40th anniversary of the school's vehicle design course. Sponsored by GM's Opel/Vauxhall division, 19 students responded to a brief that called for them to ‘Fast Forward into the Future'. Divided into three groups - Inside Out, Urban Flow and Automark - the students devised their own notions of vehicles for the year 2049, and in some cases entirely reinvented Opel brand values and aesthetics.
MINI Speedster back on the cards
Tue, 07 Apr 2009Mini Speedster from 2001 - looks set to form the basis of a new MINI Speedster Based on the MINI platform, the Speedster version was talked about as long ago as 2001, but never made it to production on the first MINI platform. As with the Hyundai ix35, the Kia Sportage is leaps and bounds on from the old car. Its design language, which comes from the guidance of former Audi designer Peter Schreyer, is as competent and as effective as anything from Europe or Japan.
