'Four out of five' drivers support speed cameras

FOUR OUT OF FIVE drivers in the UK are in favour of speed cameras and think they are useful in reducing injuries on our roads. Research by the Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM) shows 80% of British drivers supports speed cameras, though there is still scepticism about the positioning of some caemras. Half (52%) of those polled by the IAM said they did not believe speed cameras are only positioned at the sites where accidents have occurred.

Porsche Cars North America will spend between $80 million and $100 million to build a new headquarters and test-track complex next to Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson airport, the automaker said on Thursday. Dealers participating in the "cash for guzzlers" program must visit www.cars.gov to find a list of facilities that may qualify for scrapping vehicles and then make sure the company can crush or shred trade-ins, according to preliminary rules on the Web site. The government posted the rules today for the program, designed to lift U.S. light-vehicle sales from 27-year lows.
