Top student technicians compete for $12 million in scholarships

Jimbo Paranada and Marc Paguirigan wore their leis made of lucky Hawaiian ti leaves, but it wasn't quite enough to give the Maui High School students the win in the 62nd-annual Ford/AAA Student Auto Skills national competition on June 14 at Ford World Headquarters in Dearborn, Mich. The Hawaiian duo finished second to the two-person team of Matthew Saunders and Drew Torrey from Vale High School in Vale, Ore. The Oregon pair won the title of "America's Best Student Auto Technicians," outscoring at field of state champions from all 50 states.

Jaguar has slashed prices across its range in Australia – by as much as £40,000 – as it fights for a bigger market share. But there’s also a feeling that all those years of protectionist import tariffs have inured Australians to the high price of luxury cars, and that car makers take advantage of that by keeping prices high, regardless of the level of taxes imposed on their products. The Range Rover Evoque Convertible debuts at Geneva Land Rover has revealed the Range Rover Evoque Convertible, which will debut at Geneva. Land Rover say it’s a concept, but it looks like it’s heading for production. It may not be the world’s first SUV Convertible (that dubious honour goes the the Nissan Murano Convertible) but the Range Rover Evoque Convertible is certainly the world’s best looking SUV Convertible.
