SEMA 2008 show report: Dodge Challenger

By Ben Whitworth Motor Shows 06 November 2008 16:59 Chrysler may have its back against the wall, but that hasn't stopped its SRT skunkworks team churning out what is easily the most politically incorrect – and, as a result, wonderfully desirable – Challenger SRT-10. Yes, and with an 8.4-litre 600bhp V10 Viper motor shoehorned into the Dodge’s engine bay, there’ll be plenty of tyre smoke! Developed in house by Chrysler’s Street and Racing Technology department, this is the hottest of Challengers.

No Ferrari Viper, Dodge brand chief says

Despite allusions to cooperation on the Viper with Chrysler's new Italian owners, there will be no Viper Ferrari. Hey, it was a natural question, especially since Dodge opened that door in a press release on Tuesday about a lap record set by a production Viper ACR at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca (1:33.915; more on that in a minute). "When we have partners across the ocean who are known as the best sports-car makers in the world, the future opportunities are huge," Dodge brand chief Ralph Gilles said in a release.

New Mazda6 teased in video

The new Mazda 6 – previewed by the Takeri Concept and due to arrive at the Paris Motor Show in September - gets its first tease from Mazda. It’s probably fair to say that we have a pretty good idea what the 2013 Mazda6 is going to look like. Mazda has been trailing the new Mazda6 with the Mazda Takeri Concept – which had a recent outing at the Geneva Motor Show in March – but now we get the first tease of what is definitely the Mazda6 and not the Takeri in a video from Mazda.
