Lamborghini Aventador: Are gearbox problems delaying deliveries of LP700-4?
Sat, 12 Nov 2011Lamborghini Aventador at Goodwood this year We first started to wonder if Lamborghini were having problems with the Aventador a few weeks ago, when a friend of Cars UK told us that his LP700-4 – which he’d been told was in build in September and due at his dealers in October – was mysteriously bumped until April 2012. Algae-powered street lights eat CO2
Fri, 04 May 2012Algae powered street lighting (great Photoshop) A French biochemist – Pierre Calleja – has developed a street lighting system using micro algae that absorbs CO2. The need to reduce CO2 in the atmosphere is contentious - to say the least – but as long as governments use CO2 as a stick to beat motorists and empty their bank accounts it’s sensible to look at ways of ‘balancing’ the CO2 emissions of cars. French biochemist Pierre Calleja thinks he’s come up with a solution that would neutralise CO2 emissions from cars by cancelling it out with his micro-algae lighting.
Volvo Flywheel KERS hybrid on the way
Tue, 31 May 2011Volvo Flywheel KERS - more power, less fuesl, low cost Volvo looks like it’s making a big jump ahead in the ongoing battle to make cars more economical, with plans to roll out a Hybrid Flywheel KERS system to boost performance and cut fuel consumption in the process The innovative system Volvo are trialing is similar in principle to the push-button boost used in Formula 1 cars. Volvo say that their efficient and lightweight system will give a four pot the feel of a six-pot and cut fuel consumption by up to 201% Which are claims we’ve head before when it comes to hybrid technology. And, as long as the car is driven in a very gentle fashion, many of the hybrid claims are true.
