This is an original GM aluminum bellhousing for manual transmission cars. The casting number is 3872444. The 3872444 bellhousing was used only on 1965-1966 Big Block Chevy applications with the larger 11 inch clutch and 168 tooth flywheel. This includes Corvettes, Chevelles, and possibly others. Finding one of these larger bellhousings today is a very difficult task.
This bellhousing is in very good original condition overall as shown. It is in bare aluminum finish with no paint or coatings. This bellhousing has never been sand or glass bead blasted and still has its original as cast finish. There is also no major pitting or corrosion. All threads are in very good shape with no thread inserts or helicoils. There are no breaks, repairs, or modifications to this bellhousing. The bellhousing still rings like a bell.
