Local Motors announces winners of Terra Prix 2085 design competition
Wed, 13 Jul 2011Local Motors has announced the 10 winners of its Terra Prix 2085 Concept Design competition. The competition brief asked entrants to design a two-person race vehicle that could navigate every terrain imaginable on every continent, as well as a support craft for any maintenance needed throughout the race. The support craft had to be able to carry tools, extra parts, any potential module changes for different terrain as well as enough 'fuel' for both vehicles to move between three major checkpoints.

Based on the regular Aero chassis, the Life Car is part DTI-funded and involves partnerships with Oxford University and a company that developed fuel-cell technology for military applications – such as providing medical teams with power during conflicts. The Life Car is predicted to weigh 600kg, have a small fuel cell delivering 33bhp and, erm, no brakes.

But at long last, someone at Subaru has seen sense and decided to issue an official picture of the new BRZ coupe. This is the Subaru BRZ Concept STi – a rather obviously production-ready glimpse of the new rear-wheel drive coupe, co-developed between Subaru parent Fuji Heavy Industries and Toyota.
