ARP MAIN STUD KITS

There are many important reasons to use ARP main stud kits, including the elimination of main cap walk and fretting, as well as protecting the threads in your engine block. All kits come complete with hardened parallel-ground washers and high quality nuts. Some applications have provisions for mounting windage trays and have specially designed standoff studs with serrated lock nuts to position the windage tray and lock it securely in place. The studs are manufactured from 8740 chrome moly steel, heat-treated in-house to 200,000 psi tensile strength, and precision J-form threads rolled after heat-treat to create a fastener that has threads 1000% stronger than others.

FALCON TECH TIP: We recommend the use of main studs over bolts whenever possible for several key reasons. First is the ability to obtain more accurate torque readings because studs don’t “twist” into the block. All clamping forces are on one axis. By the same token, there is less force exerted on the block threads, which contributes to improved block life (very critical on aluminum blocks). Finally, there are factors of easier engine assembly and proper alignment of caps every time.

This ARP main stud kit is for Chevrolet large journal, GEN I small block engines with 2-bolt mains. P/N 134-5401. Kit contains studs, washers, and hex head nuts.

Ford B-Max to go in to production

Wed, 27 Jan 2010

Ford are to begin production of the Ford B-Max crossover. The Iosis Concept (pictured) gives us a clue on how it will look. It’s been a while coming, but it looks like Ford’s replacement for the Fusion is now ready to go in to production in Romania as the Ford B-Max, sitting below the newly sorted S-Max and looking to take on the likes of the new Vauxhall Meriva.

Frankfurt 2011: Jaguar C-X16 in the flesh

Wed, 14 Sep 2011

Jaguar C-X16 - in the flesh at FrankfurtFrankfurt We’ve been accused of ‘dissing’ the new Jaguar C-X16 Concept when we first saw it revealed a few weeks ago. But that wasn’t the point of the story at all. We love the look of the Jaguar XE to be – just as we love Jaguar’s entire current range – but we did wonder out loud if Jaguar had been a bit timid with the C-X16.

Jaguar XJ Sentinel (2010) first details

Wed, 18 Aug 2010

Jaguar has revealed details of a new armoured version of its luxury car – the XJ Sentinel. Following on from the sporty XJ75 Platinum concept unveiled earlier this week, the Sentinel is a very different kind of XJ, tailored as it is to the likes of security organisations and governments. Or, let's face it, downright dodgy types likely to have a price on their head.
