Volkswagen will build the radical 313mpg XL1 eco cigar in 2013, Ferdinand Piech revealed at the Qatar motor show. In an interview with Automotive News, the VW chairman said: 'We want to go into series production with this car starting in 2013.' He insisted it would go on sale to real people, not just as media demonstrators. And VW chief exec Martin Winterkorn added the XL1 would be sold in Europe first, then be rolled into the US and Chinese car markets.

Fioravanti expands into China in partnership with Eastone

The aim of this powerful duo is to deliver a wide range of design and build services directly to Chinese OEMs, with the first fruit of their labors being a concept car for Chinese manufacturer BAIC, to be unveiled at the Beijing auto show. The best picture yet of the new Jaguar XJ - due to be revealed in July Due to be shown officially in July, before a full presentation at Frankfurt in September, the new Jaguar XJ is designed to take the fight to BMW, Audi and Mercedes. And if how it looks is anything to go by Jaguar will have another big success on its hands, to go along with the XF. Although based on the existing XJ’s lightweight chassis (nothing wrong with that) but with a back end which is very much derived from the XF,  the car is totally re-skinned, and looks finally how a modern Jaguar luxury saloon should.
