New McLaren 650S Coupe & Spider: OFFICIAL

The new McLaren 650S Coupe (pictured) officially revealed After an initial tease last week, we had the first official photos of the new McLaren 650s yesterday which has prompted McLaren to do the right thing and officially reveal the new 650S today. Just as we’ve already reported, the 650S is a more focused 12C with front end styling that takes its lead from the McLaren P1, more power – up from 616bhp in the 12C to 641bhp (650PS) – and more focus on driver engagement. That new P1 front end new LED headlights mark the 650S out from the 12C, with a more integrated front splitter increasing downforce and door blades behind the front wheels directing air from the trailing edges of the splitter for better front end grip.

The last time we saw an Aston Martin Lagonda on the street, it looked like its sharp angles could deflect not only police radar and laser, but give pedestrians a paper cut if they weren't careful. And the last time we saw a Lagonda concept -- at the 2009 Geneva motor show -- it looked like, well, like what you see above. The ‘Green’ evangelists want to get us all driving electric cars to save the planet, but in the real world car drivers want a car that offers them all the practicality of a normal ICE car, but without the penalties of the poor range, high cost and inconvenience of an EV. So, with ever-rising fuel costs, it’s no wonder car buyers are willing to pay a little more for a car that offers better economy at the pumps – which plays straight in to the hands of Hybrid pioneers Toyota. The result is that Toyota and Lexus now see a full 20 per cent of their sale in Europe being hybrid cars in the first quarter of 2013, with sales of hybrid cars up a massive 82 per cent year-on-year.
