Brilliance

By Ben Whitworth First Official Pictures 09 March 2007 09:19 Low key but not for long It’s not often a manufacturer unveils three new cars on its stand but Brilliance JinBei Automobile did just that. Not that you’d notice – sandwiched in between a number of specialist marques with unpronounceable names, the European debut of the BS6 and BS4 saloons and BC3 coupe (above) didn't attract too many camera flashguns. But make no mistake, Brilliance will, we predict, be an automotive household name 10 years from now.

Detroit designs the future

Every time I walk into the College for Creative Studies here in Detroit, I am completely blown away by the students' talent level. Recently I went to CCS, as we call it around here, for the Michelin Challenge Design. You can see the work here.

Hyundai PassoCorto coming to Geneva

Hot on the tailpipes of the Kia GT4 Stinger's debut in Detroit comes word of an even racier-looking two-seater from parent company Hyundai – the PassoCorto. Built by and for Gen Y car enthusiasts, the PassoCorto was styled by 16 students in the Master's program of transportation design at the Istituto Europeo Design (IED) in Turin. The students were tasked by Hyundai Design Center Europe with making “…the car that would be on top of their list for buying and driving.” We don't know any Gen Ys who could fork over close to $60,000 for a car, the cost of the similarly-sized Alfa 4C, but we know plenty who would like to have one.
