University of Cincinnati 2008

Students in the Transportation Design track at the University of Cincinnati recently presented their visions for the future of transport. Most of the students were asked to envision a vehicle for use in the year 2030 in a studio course sponsored by General Motors; a brief which asked students to push the design potential of the Chevy Silverado/GMC Sierra pickup truck or the Chevy Tahoe/GMC Yukon SUVs. Two graduating students also presented their visions for the automotive future, using the Volkswagen and Saturn brands as their launching pad.

Chevrolet Tru 140S

The Chevrolet Tru 140S Concept is the polar opposite to the Code 130R, with a front-wheel drive platform and cab-forward proportion, which Chevrolet believes translates into an ‘affordable exotic' image. Both concepts were designed as a result of the same research program. Externally, the 140S adopts the family grille and bow-tie graphics up front and quad rear lamps.

Bentley Bio-Fuel beckons

Bentley finds itself in this ludicrous position. Of course, the current credit problems play a big part in Bentley’s problems, either because buyers need finance to buy their cars or, more likely, the demonising of the sort of cars Bentley makes by the eco-mentalists makes them an uncomfortable buy. So Bentley has come up with a strategy to combat the ‘Planet Killing’ perception many have of its products – Bio-Fuels.
