September saw new car registrations hit 403,136 – the highest figure for five and a half years – and the first time since 2008 new car registrations have broken the 400k barrier. We’ve covered the reasons before – pre-reg cars, dealer discounts and even PPI payouts – but car registrations are certainly continuing to give buoyancy to a recovery that’s still fragile.

The North American International Auto Show kicks off this week. Tomorrow (Monday 11th January 2010) sees the opening day of the 2010 Detroit Motor Show (North American International Auto Show), the first major car show of the season, so we thought we ought to do a quick round-up of some of the cars you’re likely to see. Chrysler Group is in talks with three potential partners, to share a chassis for the baby Dodge. Chrysler boss Tom LaSorda told CAR Online that talks were ongoing with car makers from 'western Europea and Asia', and that he would make a decision on the project by the end of 2006.
