1975 JC Whitney catalog: A bonanza of aftermarket Volkswagen goodies

Back before there was the Internet, or even big car-parts chain stores, there was the JC Whitney catalog. Printed on cheap, pulpy paper and featuring tens of thousands of tiny, hand-drawn illustrations, these thick books gave me many hours of enjoyment in the early 1980s, as I fantasized about how I'd modify my incredibly sketchy and hooptified '58 Beetle. Now I've picked up a 1975 JC Whitney catalog, and the Volkswagen section is even better than I remembered!

The Saab 9-3 Convertible Independence Edition Last week we ran a story about Saab’s Concept for the Geneva Motor Show, which we expect to be a concept version of the new Saab 9-3, but could be a first look at the smaller Saab 9-2. Well, with a week or so to go to the Geneva Motor Show, the limited edition Saab 9-3 convertible has leaked out through the well-informed Saabs United as the Saab 9-3 Convertible Independence Edition.

Barrett-Jackson Palm Beach auction rakes in $18 million

Barrett-Jackson's Palm Beach auction concluded on Sunday with more than $18 million in sales at the South Florida Fairgrounds. A 2011 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 crossed the block for $1,000,000. That sale benefited the Wounded Warrior Family Support charity, which is not to be confused with the Wounded Warrior Project.
