Toyota/Scion coupe specs reach the Internet
Mon, 31 Oct 2011Specifications for the Toyota FT-86 and Scion FR-S coupes have leaked on the Internet via scanned images of the training manual, posted at www.ft86club.com. If the site's translations are correct, the 2,667-pound coupe will use a 2.0-liter flat-four engine that makes 197 hp at 7,000 rpm and 150 lb-ft of torque at 6,600 rpm. It looks as if the FR-S will come in two trim levels: a higher-spec variant that features a limited-slip rear differential in both manual and automatic versions of the car and a lower-spec model that has only the limited-slip diff with the manual transmission.
2015 Ford Mustang will perch atop Empire State Building
Tue, 25 Mar 2014Ford is celebrating the Mustang's 50th anniversary in style. In addition to the cross-country tour and sporadic events across the world, Ford will repeat what it did to introduce the Mustang convertible 50 years ago, setting it on top of the Empire State Building during the New York auto show. So, you might guess Ford would use one of those super cranes to get the car up there, but even the best portable units can only go up 50 stories or so; the observation deck at the Empire State Building is on the 86th floor.
Toyota drags down new-vehicle quality average; Ford leads Detroit 3 gains
Thu, 17 Jun 2010Dragged down by Toyota Motor Corp., the quality of new cars and trucks sold in the United States slipped slightly this year--the first time since 2007, according to a study released Thursday. But Detroit's automakers--helped by Ford Motor Co. and some of the smoothest new-model launches ever--have matched or surpassed Asian and European rivals in initial vehicle quality for the first time, based on the closely watched J.D.
