What I have up for bids here is a very neat and completely original vintage Airguide "Visi-Dome" boat/marine/auto/rat rod/etc rear compass and mount assembly just pulled from a 1960s LArson Lapline boat that we are parting out and fitting a ton of different boats and applications. This compass would be perfect for the guy who is fixing up that vintage Larson, Garwood, Aerocraft, Chris Craft, Century, Starcraft or other boat and looking for a vintage accessories or maybe for the guy who just needs this compass to replace a missing or damaged unit. .Either way for the no reserve opening bid of just $12.99 I think you will find this vintage compass to be a great buy and find. This is a very well made unit with that classic look! Now here's what you will get,

Unit is approximately 2 3/8" in diameter , standing 2 5/8" tall and 3 1/4" tall with mount..As far as condition, Compass has no cracks or damage. Some comsetic wear here and there. The Car Design News Contest 2008 deadline for entries is on Wednesday March 26th - just over a week's time! Entries in both the Professional Designer category and the Student Designer category will have to be submitted by this date - no late entries will be accepted - as the assessment process takes place directly afterwards. Each entry needs to be uploaded onto the Entry Submissions page of the Car Design News Contest site as "snap shot" views of a digital design model.

British driver breaks speed record for steam-powered car

One of the world's oldest speed records has gone up in smoke--or rather, steam. Charles Burnett III drove a steam car to an average speed of 139.843 mph over two runs in California to beat the 103-year-old record of Fred Marriott. Burnett peaked at 136.103 mph on the first run, then he accelerated to 151.085 mph on the second run less than an hour later.

Audi R8 e-tron killed off for production – again

It’s more than six months since we reported that Audi were planning to kill off any production plans for the electric R8 e-Tron, with Audi’s head of R&D saying the production plans for the R8 were going to be scrapped. And it seems they have now gone in the bin. Autocar are reporting that Audi has confirmed to them that the R8 e-Tron won’t be going in to production and the ten latest e-Trons to be built will be used just for testing and development to help Audi with its ‘electrification’ plans, which will now almost certainly concentrate on plug-in hybrids and range extenders, rather than EVs.
