Hyundai has revealed it has now built more than a million i30s with European sales accounting for 500,000 of those sales. Get over the latent badge snoberry and the Hyundai i30 is a family car that can be considered a real alternative to the leading cars in its sector – the VW Golf and Ford Focus – with a good combination of style, equipment, decent driving dynamics and cost. Set aside that badge snobbery and any buyer looking for a family car should really have these three – the i30, Golf and Focus - on their top three list; the rest is down to a subjective judgement.

Study: More likely to date millionaire than crash car

You are less likely to be in a car accident on a 1,000-mile trip than you are to date a millionaire. Seem unbelievable? Esurance says it's true in an infographic it published recently that compares the odds of common driving mishaps, such as getting pulled over, to flipping a coin or pulling an ace out of a shuffled deck of cards.

Citroën Creative Award winners announced

The 2012 Citroën Creative Awards presentation ceremony was held last week, with ten prize winners receiving awards for their submissions in a global competition. The contest, which attracted over 800 entries from 87 different countries, was organized into three main categories, in which both experienced and amateur designers were encouraged to take part in. Wouter Van Vugt, a Dutch graphic designer, for his entry ‘Junior Driver', won the ‘Ideas Contest', which focused on the traveling comfort of future Citroën cars.
