This is the sixth and final special edition of the Bugatti Veyron 16.4, bowing out in a style not that dissimilar to an ageing Ford Mondeo repmobile. Apart from the €2.35 million price tag (£1.86 plus taxes!), 1184bhp power output and 0-62mph time of 2.6 seconds, that is… All six of the Bugatti Legends series are based on the open-top Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse.

Future products: Lamborghini sees the light

Has engine performance gone as far as it can? With horsepower per liter having long since broken the 100-1 mark, Lamborghini seems to think so. So do many European regulators who want to strangle carbon dioxide emissions.

Audi R8

The 420bhp, 4.2-litre V8-powered 911 rival will hit 188mph (or 301kph) and gets to 62mph in 4.6secs. The Lamborghini Gallardo-based supercar will cost an estimated £75,000 when it arrives in the UK in May, with the Audi R Tronic sequential manual costing an extra £5000.
