Frankfurt Motor Show 2013: the top 20 cars to look forward to

The 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show will play host to a wealth of new vehicles making their world and European debuts at the German automotive expo. So, from outlandish concepts and design studies to more mainstream production-ready metal, there are plenty of vehicles to look forward to when the covers come off at Frankfurt 2013. Everything form supercars to family estates will be vying for the limelight – here are 20 of the most interesting, important, unusual and fastest cars and concepts that’ll be on show.

This day in Autoweek history: The 1976 Chevrolet Chevette

Today in Autoweek history, we look back to the week of September 20, 1975, when Corey Farley gave us a look at the new 1976 Chevrolet Chevette. The B-segment (for 1976, anyway) newcomer weighed in at a scant 1,998 pounds and carried an equally lightweight MSRP of $2,899. Farley described how the Chevette handled some of the rigors of testing, which included hauling four journalists and their camera equipment around the Black Lake testing facility in Milford, Mich.

This is Citroen taking a swipe at the Mini Cooper S Works – and giving us a hint at what Sebastian Leob will be driving in next year’s WRC. The DS3 Racing is a pumped up version of the new C3-based premium supermini and just 1000 will be finished at the workshops of Citroen Racing, the team behind 11 rally championship titles. Based on the production 1.6 THP, the Racing version gets tweaks to the turbo, exhaust and engine management system to boost power from 148bhp to 197bhp and add 26lb ft of twist for a 203lb ft total.
