That's right, and CAR Online has just returned from a visit to Weissach - Porsche's R&D HQ near Stuttgart - where we were given the full lowdown on the Cayenne Hybrid. Porsche's hand has been forced by the current public and political climate surrounding CO2 and global warming - and the company has taken the unusual step of showing its prototypes even though they're a few years from production.

VW at Geneva Motor Show: 2010 VW Sharan

Volkaswagen has revealed the 2010 VW Sharan at the Geneva Motor Show Last week we reported on VW’s little German tease of the 2010 Sharan on the VW web site in Germany, coyly showing just a partial front end and one wheel. But a week on there’s no such reticence with a full reveal of VW’s big people carrier at Geneva. The last generation of the Sharan shared a platform with Ford’s Galaxy, but the 2010 Volkswagen Sharan is a purely VW venture -based as it is on VW’s flexible MQB platform – and comes complete with the standard fashion accessory for a people carrier of sliding rear doors, and a more flexible seven-seat layout.

BMW M1 Hommage to show at Melbourne

[ad#ad-1] BMW has announced that it is going to use its M1 Hommage (or Homage, if you’re not German) as the centre piece of it’s stand at the Melbourne Motor Show in February. The BMW M1 Hommage was created last year to celebrate 30 years from the M1 road car creation in 1978, and was developed by BMW’s M Division. The M1 Hommage takes many styling cues from the original M1, such as the air vents on the bonnet, the louvres on the rear window and the round decals at the extremes of the wings, but makes a distinctly 21st century take on the original.
