Why LaFerrari was designed in Maranello

Love it or hate it, the design of LaFerrari comes completely from one place— Maranello. The most powerful street-legal Ferrari ever made was styled entirely in-house, which means that for the first time in recent memory, a Ferrari wasn't crafted by Pininfarina. An Italian legend in its own right, the design house has created nearly 200 Ferraris dating to the early 1950s.

The image reveals little about the EV, but we expect the five-seat battery-powered car to have Ford Focus-like dimensions, thanks to its compact motor. We can also decipher that the badge hides a charging socket at the front – a neat solution that’ll make the EV easy to charge in right- and left-hand drive markets.  The introduction of Nissan’s EV comes just a week after the Japanese company unveiled plans to produce battery packs at its Sunderland plant.

May sales slide 4 percent on rising fuel prices, tight vehicle supplies

U.S. light vehicle sales dropped 4 percent in May--the first decline since August--as rising gas prices, inventory shortages, higher stickers and economic jitters curbed demand. The pace of sales last month--11.78 million units on an annualized basis--was the year's lowest and marked the first seasonally adjusted total below 12 million units in seven months.
