Michelin Challenge Design 2009 Finalists Announced

Beginning January 11, the 32 designers below will be living that dream when their original work is unveiled in the Michelin Challenge Design exhibit at the 2009 North American International Auto Show. Top automotive designers serving on the Michelin Challenge Design Jury selected the work based on the theme 'BRAVE+BOLD: America's Next Iconic Vehicle'.

Half of drivers try home fixes

ALMOST HALF of the UK’s drivers have tried to fix their car at home with help from an online video rather than take it to a garage. A study by breakeryard.com shows two-fifths of drivers use videos from websites such as Youtube to learn how to fix their car. The study also showed that more than half (54%) had also tried to fix their car at home to save money on repair bills.

CCS students tackle GM project

Seniors studying Transportation Design at the College for Creative Studies (CCS) in Detroit, Michigan, have recently completed a project with General Motors that has been underway since late 2009. General Motors challenged the students to design an Extended Range Electric Vehicle (EREV) that focused on the brand identity of Buick, Cadillac or Chevrolet, utilized the EREV components, and optimized aerodynamic attributes. Design features that incorporated sustainability materials and efficiency were also considered important components of the design development.
