This flame-spitting beast is the Volkswagen Golf24, VW’s new Nurburgring 24hr racer. The Golf24 will race at the ‘Green Hell’ in the legendary endurance event on 25-26 June 2011, but although it’s been built as part of Volkswagen’s celebrations for the 35th anniversary of the GTI, it shares little with the hot hatch that we know and love. Carroll held hostage by Tesla Model S

Autoweek's senior online editor Rory Carroll was stranded Tuesday morning by a charger stuck in a Tesla Model S. It won't release from the car, and because of that, the car won't run. He took to Twitter this morning for ideas, but has yet to receive a good one.

Online driving licence to reduce insurance costs

First the tax disc, now your driving licence, as government plans to put driving records online are set to make the paper counterpart licence obsolete – reducing your car insurance premium in the process. By creating an online record that insurance companies can easily check, ministers and the Driver and Vehicle Licencing Agency (DVLA) expect insurance costs to fall, as insurers will be able to exactly analyse risk rather than hedging their bets.
