The winners of the Michelin Challenge Design 2014 have just been revealed at a private event in Detroit's Renaissance Center following the first press day of the NAIAS. Chris Luchowiec of Poland was awarded first place for his ‘BOT' design, a completely autonomous transportation solution for relatively low populated areas. His concept is designed to address the issue of lone car commuters, traffic congestion and the generally poor experience of mass transit use.

Volvo has brought the station wagon back to America; one small slice of the automotive continuum has been set to right. But the new V60 is a rather slinky, sporty thing, far removed from the box-plus-box-equals-box machines of the wagon's Stateside heyday. If this glimpse of the Swedish brand's new Concept Estate is any indication, do not expect a reversion to angularity when the next generation of cars arrives.

This is the facelifted Nissan Juke. Chief among the visual changes to Nissan’s divisive-looking but best-selling crossover are reshaped LED running lights inspired by 2013’s Extrem concept car, a revised front bumper that look less like a wine rack, and revised tail lights. There are also new alloy wheels and, as you can see, garish paint schemes, but the real headlines here lurk under Quasimodo’s skin.
