Two celebrated performance brands--Mercedes AMG and Cigarette Racing--unveiled a custom Cigarette inspired by the SLS AMG (“Better Than the Original?”, AW, Nov. 30, 2009), at the Miami International Boat Show. Though the boat is based on Cigarette's 46' Rider, Cigarette says a clean-sheet approach was used to build the all-new boat.

Volvo V40 range gets new Drive-E engines

From May this year Volvo will update its V40 model, equipping the premium Swedish hatchback with its range of high-efficiency Drive-E engines and Volvo’s latest eight-speed automatic gearbox. This means the revised V40 line-up now offers an impressive performance to efficiency ratio, with 190hp on offer in the D4 turbodiesel variant, returning a claimed 74.3mpg combined with 99g/km CO2 when mated to the six-speed manual. Brit Insurance Design Of The Year 2011

Showcasing a year in design, the fourth annual Brit Insurance Design Awards are currently being previewed at the Design Museum in London, UK. The shortlist of over 100 items takes in the best in design from seven categories: Architecture, Transport, Graphics, Interactive, Product, Furniture and Fashion. Naturally it is the Transport category we are most interested in, within which there are some very credible contenders for the overall title.
