Duramax Diesel EGR Block Off Plate - LB7 LLY - 01-05 GMC 6.6L - Stainless Steel

2001-2005 Chevy 6.6L Duramax Diesel LLY
EGR Block Off Plate

LISTING IS FOR:

  • One LLY EGR Block Off Plate Only!
  • See Other Listings for EGR Blocker Packages!

The following is specifically suited for the 2001-2005 Duramax LB7 & LLY. The 2006 LLY should follow the LBZ as they are physically identical. See below.

  • This EGR Blocker Plate Is For GM 2500/3500 LLY & LB7 6.6L Duramax Diesel Engines (Years: 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2004.5, 2005). It easily installs on the EGR tube to shut off the "Exhaust Gas Recirculation" (EGR) flow back into the intake manifold. Plate is made from Stainless Steel. Does not fit 2006-07 Models.

  • The LB7 was used from 2001 model year until mid 2004 model year. In mid 2004 the LLY series was released. In 2006 the Duramax changed again. The early 2006 engines were still called LLY and the later 2006 and 2007 "Classic" models became the LBZ. This creates some confusion as the 2006 LLY is distinctively different from the 2004.5-2005 LLY. The 2006 LLY and LBZ engines are essentially the same when it comes to modifications. We treat all 2006 as a LBZ as far as modifications.

  • On 01-04 trucks, only California and Northeastern emission trucks and some federal emission trucks have an EGR valve and tube. Most others do not unless they were originally produced for one of the areas above. Check you truck before purchasing.

The “Blocker Plate” is just as the name implies. It is an aftermarket-machined plate made to slide into the EGR exhaust connection flange to block off the flow of emission gases to the EGR. Some believe that this results in an internally cleaner engine due to no longer re-circulating sooted exhaust gases through the engine intake to be reused during the combustion process. Some forum members report the following additional benefits when the plate is installed: A slight increase in MPG’s, a slight decrease in EGT temperatures, more engine power, quicker turbo spool-up and a slightly quieter running engine. A few members have also noted just the opposite.

Will installing the blocker plate cause DTC codes and a Service Engine Soon light?

Installing a Blocker Plate will cause the PCM to display EGR related DTC error codes due to the lack of airflow to the EGR. Forum members report that on vehicles with Federal Emission standards the SES light usually will not illuminate. On vehicles having CA and Northeast emission standards chances are the SES light will illuminate. The Override Circuit Finger Stick can be installed to prevent DTC’s and SES illumination. It is still unknown as to exactly how / if the ECM compensates when the plate is installed without the Stick. Some race programmers can modify the MAP output and disable the EGR which will in turn make the light turn off. EFI Live is one such program.

The Override Circuit "Finger Stick" is available thru us also.

Note: The 01-04 LB7 Motor Has a Vacuum Operated EGR Valve Not an Electric Valve and can not use the "Finger Stick" Override Circuit.

Engine Identification:

The Duramax engine has evolved:

  • LB7 - 01-04
  • LLY - 04.5-05
  • LLY/LBZ - 06-07 (classic) 2006 LLY Considered a LBZ
  • LMM (new body GMT 900)

The LB7 was used from 2001 model year until mid 2004 model year.

In mid 2004 the LLY series was released. In 2006 the Duramax changed again.

The early 2006 engines were still called LLY and the later 2006 and 2007 "Classic" became the LBZ. This creates some confusion as the 2006 LLY is distinctively different from the 04.5-05 LLY. The 2006 LLY and LBZ engines are essentially the same when it comes to modifications.

The LMM began in the new body style GMT 900 series trucks in 2007.

Any installation you make is done at your own risk. Any manufacturer can not and will not be responsible for any damages, real or perceived, to you, your truck, or your marital life in whole or in part. Same goes for these installation directions. I did this as a favor to the forum members to save them some reading time on an interesting subject. Read all these directions before installing. Ask questions first, install second.

BMW Recall: 350,000 Cars affected

Sat, 02 Oct 2010

BMW Recall affects only V8 & V12 BMWs and Rolls Royces We don’t tend to do every tuppeny-ha’penny recall on Cars UK. Any more than we do exotic car accidents. But some recalls affect so many people we do – occassionally – feel the need to do sensible reporting and let readers know what’s occurring.
