XFR Jag the fastest ever
Tue, 13 Jan 2009They took with them the usual holiday toys, but they remembered to pack a nice new Jaguar XFR, with a few mods necessary to run at Bonneville (roll cage, fire extinguishers, etc). They had a little fiddle with the ECU to derestrict it (and yield 600bhp) but, it is claimed, made no further mods apart from adding a spoiler at the back to stop the XFR taking off on the Salt Flats’ wide open spaces. Wed, 01 Oct 2014The 2015 Honda CR-V Facelift gets a Paris 2014 debut It’s two years since the latest Honda CR-V arrived in the UK (and a chunk longer since it arrived in the US and Japan), so it’s a time for a refresh, with the facelifted Honda CR-V for 2015 revealed ahead of a debut at the 2014 Paris Motor Show later this week. Under the skin, the four-wheel-drive versions of the new CR-V get a more powerful 1.6 litre i-DTEC diesel engine from Honda’s Earth Dreams series, which replaces the current model’s 2.2 litre diesel. The new 1.6 litre comes armed with 158bhp and 258lb/ft of torque and emissions of 130g/km (with the six-speed manual) or 135g/km when mated to the new 9-speed auto ‘box – savings of 11 and 20 cent over the old engine/gearbox combinations.
Toyota to sell tens of thousands of fuel cell cars a year by 2020
Wed, 07 Mar 2012Toyota FCV-R Hydrogen Fuel Cell Toyota is pushing ahead with hydrogen fuel cell vehicles and plans to be selling tens of thousands a year by 2012, starting with the Toyota FCV-R Toyota may have brought yet another hybrid concept to Geneva, and may we have moaned again about their obsession with flogging hybrid cars. But we can’t argue they haven’t made a success of turning car buyers on to hybrid cars, however futile a long-term route we may think it is. But it seems Toyota do agree with us on electric cars with no plans to throw their weight behind the EV in a big way, but they are gearing up to try and do with hydrogen fuel cell cars what they’ve done with hybrid cars, and are expecting to be selling tens of thousands of fuel cell powered cars a year by 2020.
