For sale is a new 1962 -1967 VW Beetle fuel sending unit and fuel guage kit.

This kit is ideal for restorations.  It will replace the entire mechanical fuel guage system in one kit.

The fuel sender has a factory VW part number of 113 919 049C or a manufacturer's part number of 98-2020.

The fuel guage has a factory VW part number of 113 919 029 or a manufacturer's part number of 98-2019.

This fuel sending unit and guage kit will fit all air-cooled VW Type 1 and Karmann Ghia vehicles form 1962 -1967.

The fuel sender works only with standard VW beetle built from 1962 - 1967. It is NOT compatible with Super Beetles built during that time.

These mechanical fuel senders are designed to be hooked up to your mechanical fuel gauge cable. 

Our fuel senders include replacement gasket, cover and fasterners, making them an easily replaceable part.

How to replace 1962 - 1967 VW Beetle Fuel Sender:

1. Open the front hood of your standard VW bug or Ghia

2. Locate the fuel sender in the center of your fuel tank.

3. Remove the cover on the fuel sender with a flat blade screw driver .

4. Remove the cable that connects the fuel gauge to the fuel sender.

5. Note the six (6) screws that hold the fuel sender to the tank. 

6. Use a phillips head screw driver to carefully remove the screws that fasten the fuel sender in place.

7. Remove the old fuel sender from the fuel tank.  Note that the old rubber gasket may stick to the fuel tank upon removal.

8. Note the orientation of the fuel sender in the tank prior to removal.

9. Remove the old gasket and ensure the fuel tank surface is clean prior to installing the replacement sender.

10. Replace the fuel sender with new gasket installed beneath it. 

11. Thread in the six new fastening screws into the fuel tank by hand. 

12. Carefully tighten the screws in a crossed pattern to ensure even seating of the fuel sender. 

13. Ensure all screws are secure but not over tightened. 

14. Reconnect the fuel sender cable to your new 1962 -1967 fuel sender.

How to Replace Your 1962 - 1967 VW Bug Fuel Gauge

1. Open the front hood of your VW Beetle or Karmann Ghia

2. Locate your fuel sending unit in the center of your fuel tank.

3.Remove the cover from the fuel sending unit to expose the fuel gauge cable end.

4. Remove the fuel gauge cable from the sender.

5. Remove the wiring cover that sits behind your dash baord.  Two thumb screws or nuts hold it in place, one on each side.

6. Locate your fuel gauge on the left side of your speedometer. 

7. A steel bracket holds the fuel gauge in place by pulling it against your dash. 

8. Loose the fastener holding the bracket to gauge and remove the bracket.

9. Your fuel gauge should now be loose. Remove it from the inside of the car by pulling the assembly towards you.

10. Replace the new fuel guage in the hole where the old gauge used to be.

11. Install the fastening bracket and tigthen the gauge until it is snug against the dash. 

12. Route the fuel gauge cable down to your mechanical fuel sender.

13. Reconnect the fuel gauge cable to your 1962 - 1967 fuel sender.

14. Replace the fuel sender cover.

15. Replace your dash wiring cover.

16. Close your hood and go for a drive. You deserve it!

Mitsubishi plans ‘Colt-successor' for the United States around 2012

Mitsubishi plans to bring a global small car to the United States sometime around 2012. It would be the successor to the Colt small car currently sold in Europe and Asia. The new car would be all-new, and the name has not been decided yet, a spokesman said, referring to it as the “Colt-successor.” “There's obviously a need for a very small car,” Mitsubishi spokesman Moe Durand said.

The 500's score of 35 points puts it ahead of cars like the Mini and Renault Clio while the 500’s closest rival, the Renault Twingo, only achieved four stars in the latest tests. The 500’s 35 points bettered the Twingo’s 28, as did its 14 point to the Renault’s 11 for pedestrian safety (though both ratings are equivalent to two stars).
