Or maybe the owner of the Lamborghini Gallardo in China, who organised its destruction on China’s ‘National Consumer Day’ to make a point about Lamborghini’s failure to address his problems, had just reached the end of his tether. But whatever the reason, the sight of an almost new Gallardo being destroyed by a team of boiler-suited, sledgehammer-wielding chaps certainly garnered a crowd.

Renault say the new Clio is better to own and better to drive than any Clio before. In the seemingly never-ending saga of Spyker and Saab it does now seem likely that the deal we reported last week with Chinese distributors Pang Da is going to pan out. The messy-looking deal with Pang Da has seen the beleaguered Dutch car maker receiving €30 million already from the cash-rich Chinese, which it’s using to pay-off its suppliers in an attempt to get production lines rolling again in Trollhattan.
