Volvo reveals C30 BEV electric car

The electric Volvo C30 BEV wasn’t at Frankfurt, and the Swedes announced the zero-emissions runaround today – along with details of a 92-mile range, 80mph top speed and 0-62mph sprint of less than 11 seconds. The BEV stands for Battery Electric Vehicle and Volvo’s new plug-in hybrid could be introduced to the C30 range by 2012, bosses say.

Codemasters extends game agreement with Formula One

Codemasters will continue as makers of the Formula One video game, the company said on Tuesday. It extended its deal with F1 honcho Bernie Ecclestone and friends and will work to expand the F1 video-game line across new platforms and to new audiences in the coming years. Codemasters was founded in 1986 by game-designing brothers Richard and David Darling.

GM agrees to sell Saab to supercar company Koenigsegg

General Motors confirmed Tuesday morning that it has a tentative agreement to sell Saab to a group led by Swedish supercar maker Koenigsegg Automotive. The deal would close by the end of the third quarter and put Saab in the hands of an upstart, boutique car company known for producing eye-catching cars with gaudy horsepower ratings and even gaudier price tags. The agreement includes $600 million in financing from the European Investment Bank.
