Petrol cars twice as likely to fail MOT on emissions

The latest MOT test data shows that 26.2% of all cars tested fail on excess exhaust emissions – and surprisingly petrol cars fail more than twice as often as diesels in this part of the annual roadworthiness test. According to the official Vehicle Operator and Standard Agency (VOSA) figures, which cover all of 2010 and the first nine months of 2011, 9.7% of petrol cars failed to meet MOT emissions standards compared to just 3.9% of diesels. Paris Motor Show 2006 - Preview

The 2006 Paris Mondial de L'Automobile opens its doors with the media preview days starting September 28th and features a wealth of new concept and production cars. With around 1.4 million visitors expected, it remains the most popular automobile show in Europe and this year's major production releases will include the Nissan Qashqai, Volvo C30, new Mini, Mercedes CL and BMW X5. There's also a strong showing of concepts, especially from the French makers Peugeot, Citroen and Renault.
