Need for Speed Ford Mustang sells for $300,000

The 900hp Ford Mustang GT as seen in the latest Need for Speed movie has sold at an auction in the US for $300,000 – that’s roughly £180,000. Unfortunately, the winning bidder might be disappointed to find out that in real life it doesn’t make anywhere near the 900hp claimed in the film, instead running a stock 420hp. Given how closely the 650S coupe is based upon the 12C, it’s no surprise to see the 650S Spider looking very much like a 12C: same folding hard-top roof, same 40kg weight penalty, same boasts by McLaren that the carbon tub needs no extra reinforcing for its role in a cabriolet. Though the 650S Spider is 40kg heavier than the hard-top and has some of its P1-echoing aerodynamic talent spoiled by chopping the top off, it’s still a very fast piece of kit.

Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts Degree Show 2010

China's Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts held its annual degree show in the school's Art Museum recently, showcasing the works of 16 transportation design students created over the course of the four year program. Divided into two parts, students were asked to design a solution for the increasing problems caused by the rapid development of car consumption in China. The projects consisted of a partnership project with Guangzhou Automobile Group Engineering Institute (GAEI) as well as the student's individual projects.
