Preview: Porsche Panamera

After what has already been the most drawn-out model introduction ever (the initial Porsche sketches of the new model having been revealed in 2005), Porsche has finally released the first official rendering of its forthcoming Panamera sedan, set to be launched in 2009. Though the plan view doesn't show much of the new Porsche's design, the company says the features will 'include a wide and low body offering dynamic proportions and muscular design'. But while the grand tourer will have a 'compact overall look', the interior space is claimed to offer a brand-new experience of roominess, with two single seats and generous headroom at the rear allowing adults to sit in comfort.

Ford puts Sync Applink into more vehicles

Ford is expanding its Sync Applink technology, adding it to several 2012 models that will start arriving in dealerships late this summer. Sync Applink, which debuted on the 2012 Ford Mustang earlier this year, enables drivers to access their smartphone apps via Sync's voice controls. Applink will be included in the Sync package, which is an extra-cost option on many Ford vehicles.

Victorious Mercedes debuts at Amelia Island

The Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance brings out some of the rarest and most beautiful cars on the planet. We'll be keeping our eye on one particular gem at this year's show: a 1914 French Grand Prix-winning Mercedes. The rugged racer will be the centerpiece of Mercedes-Benz's display along with the car's owner, George Wingard.
