VW Beetle to get bigger seat

TThe successor to the New Beetle will arrive in 2012 with more space in the back seat and better packaging, said Stefan Jacoby, president and CEO of Volkswagen Group of America. Speaking at a press event in Germany, he also said the next generation of the Beetle will be "more of a halo car" for the Volkswagen brand. Ford GT Sells For a Record $11 million at RM's Monterey Auction

RM Auctions sold a 1968 Ford GT40 Gulf/Mirage coupe Friday night at its Monterey sale for $11 million, setting a record for the highest price paid for an American car at auction. The Friday sales showed once again a very strong market for cars selling at auction, according to statistics gathered by classic car insurance giant Hagerty. In comparing this year's sales to last year, the total number of cars sold in two days of auctions was down slightly while the total amount generated -- $67.5 million – is far greater, as is the average selling price.

Aston Martin Rapide S arrives with 550 horses

Aston Martin is replacing the four-door Rapide with the Rapide S, which gets minor styling tweaks and extra power. Just as they did with the new DB9, Aston Martin has made the new Rapide S a more aggressive car, with small styling tweaks like a new grill and a small spoiler at the back, some minor trim tweaks with the addition of Piano Black trim and a new duotone black and red leather trim, and an optional carbon fibre pack for exterior highlights. Under the skin, the Rapide S is still based on Aston’s VH platform, but it does get the latest Gen 4 tweaks including new adaptive dampers with Normal, Sport and Track modes, tweaked dynamic stability control (DSC) and the latest AM11 engine dropped by 19mm for a lower centre of gravity.
