Restored Value $175.00

Here we have a professionally re-plated rear License Plate Light for the 1971-1973 Mustang.  The plating has been done by a plating shop that has been around since the mid-50s and the plating shows great on the light .  The wiring is brand new and includes a new wire sleeve just like the Ford Factory used in the late-60s.  A OEM original Grommet was put in and fits tight in the wiring.  The OEM glass lens appeared to be in great shape, and I included a new lens gasket and a OEM original bulb.  Finally included are 2 OEM original lamp hanging screws that were zinc dichromate plated.  This is a very nice restored lamp and will look great in concourse restorations or for someone who enjoys having Ford Factory original parts.

Letter Stamping:
Lamp Housing: FORD
Door Retainer: FoMoCo
Glass: FoMoCo

Date Code:

SAE-L-71MG

NOTE:
I included a wire sleeve for this light, but I'm not sure if the wire sleeve was used on the 1971-1973 license plate lights from the Factory.  If you are a concourse buyer and don't think that the sleeve belongs on a 1971-1973 license plate light, then simply cut off the wire sleeve.  I don't have enough research to surely know if the wire sleeve was put on the wire from the Factory.  If the sleeve does not belong with the wire and you like the look of the sleeve, then by keeping the sleeve, it will add extra protection to the wire from the outside elements.

The Fact is that NOS License plate lights are almost impossible to find these days on eBay, or other vendors for 1971-1973 Mustangs.  The License Plate Lights that come-up for sale are just Ford Galaxie"service parts" Lights and are different from Mustang light in design....    What I'm selling is a true Ford Factory License Plate Light with all number/letter stamping.  Restored back to Factory condition.  The only difference from my Light is that the wire assembly is brand new.  Having a new wire assembly means not having to worry about conductivity problems that 50 year old wires cause from copper corrosion and
brittle wire insulation that can brake and cause the light to stop working.
It would cost much more time and money to purchase a OEM light and have it professionally re-plated and get all the accessories that I listed above.  Anyone can paint a light, but plating brings the light to a whole another level.  Worth the investment for your Pony.

Don't settle for foreign reproductions, keep your Mustang real with Factory Ford Parts.
Keep searching you won't find another Factory 1971-1973 license plate light in this condition on eBay....

Price estimates for making the license plate light look FoMoCo Factory again:
This is how much will cost, if you plan on doing your own license plate light restoration.

July 25: Plugging in while surfing

Sun, 25 Jul 2010

Went surfing, 33 miles away. 33 plus 33 is 66. Should have been within the range limits of the car but I used up nine kWhs on the first leg of mostly freeway driving, which suggests I wouldn't make it home.
