Design Contest: Stile Italiano Giovani 2008

The Association of the Automotive Industry (ANFIA) Italian Car Coachbuilders Group last month announced the results of the ‘Stile Italiano Giovani 2008' design competition. Open to non-professional car designers and design students worldwide, the competition - which began in May 2008 - culminated in a collection of 20 designs selected by a jury composed of representatives from leading Italian coachbuilders. Lincoln opens first dedicated design studio for 40 years

Ford has opened the first dedicated Lincoln design center for 40 years in Dearborn, Michigan, as part of its ongoing brand reinvention. Last August Ford announced it would be creating the studio for its luxury brand as well as increasing spending, giving it unique interiors and powertrains in an effort to differentiate it from the core Ford offerings. The Lincoln Design Studio has been built on the campus of Ford's Product Development center and houses designers, sculptors, modelers and engineers who make up part of a larger Lincoln Product Development team that will create four new Lincoln vehicles by 2015.

Big car day in horse country at the Keeneland Concours d'Elegance

With a concours sprawling over the lush grounds of the Keeneland Race Course, there was almost too much to see. Attendance, at 6,000, was up again this year; there was a record number of entries, and attendees could park their rides in car corrals that surrounded the show grounds. "To drive up in your Cobra, Mustang or Mini and then nose up 10 feet from a Duesenberg or a Bugatti is pretty cool," said Tom Jones, event chairman.
