Lexus LF-NX crossover concept stars at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show
Wed, 11 Sep 2013It seems the wave of crossovers flooding the European car market is showing no signs of subsiding here at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show – this, the Lexus LF-NX crossover concept, is the latest small SUV to join the club. You’d have thought Toyota’s luxury arm would have created an upmarket off-roader to rival the Range Rover Evoque sooner than it has – well finally, Frankfurt 2013 marks the end of that wait.
Ford testing self-parking cars – with or without a driver (video)
Wed, 09 Oct 2013Ford testing self-parking cars – with or without a driver It seems we’re heading to the point where cars can do more and more for the driver, and fully autonomous cars seem to be less than a decade away. On the way to the fully autonomous car, car makers will be offering stages on the way as the ability of cars to be self-controlling moves along, and Ford are heading in that direction with their new systems for parking and obstacle avoidance. Ford are running prototypes with Fully Assisted Parking, a system that manages to sense a space, control the steering, gearbox and brakes to park the car at the touch of a button, even if the driver isn’t actually in the car.
Aston Martin Lagonda Concept unveiled at Geneva motor show 2009
Wed, 04 Mar 2009By Ben Pulman First Official Pictures 04 March 2009 06:57 Aston Martin shocked the Geneva motor show today when it unveiled the Lagonda Concept, a V12-engined SUV that’s designed to spearhead the expansion of the company into over 100 countries. And it's the first fruits of a new collaboration between Aston and Mercedes-Benz, which will provide the 4x4 hardware and engine tech - from the Merc GL SUV. Yes, or if you believe Aston Martin boss Dr Ulrich Bez, ‘the avantgarde luxury car of the future.’ The Lagonda Concept is based on the four-wheel drive chassis of the Mercedes GL (a fruition of the Aston Martin-Mercedes tie up first revealed by our very own Georg Kacher), so it’s four-wheel drive, but unlike like its donor car, the Lagonda version seats just four and features a V12 engine up front.
