-The GPSMAP 196 offers unprecendented features and utility in an aviation portable. In addition to the built-in Garmin basemap, the GPSMAP 196 accepts all of our MapSource products, and provides turn-by -turn route guidance for street navigation. The unit can operate in three different modes; Aviation, Land, and Water, with user preferences stored independently.

Other exciting features include a unique "panel page", which offers a graphical depiction of GPS-derived flight information, and an automatic logbook function that records departure airports, arrival airports, and flight time (automatically recording night flight based on sunrise/sunset information). This flight information is stored in the unit, and can be downloaded to Garmin logbook software. The GPSMAP 196's processor provides map redraws and scrolling at over twice the speed of previous aviation portables.

    The Jaguar Future Website Are Jaguar serious about the Jaguar C-X16 Concept? If the launch of a new website detailing every bit of information they can cobble together is anything to go by, the answer is a very reassuring yes. As we wait for solid news on what exactly the Jaguar C-X16 will become for production - the XE badge is by no means a certainty, never mind whether it launches as a convertible too – Jaguar are busying themselves offering up every single morsel of information they can showcase on a new website devoted to the C-X16.

    Regular eyetests should be 'mandatory' for all drivers

    EYESIGHT tests for all drivers should be made compulsory and nine out of ten drivers (87%) of motorists in the UK support this idea. There are 2,900 road casualties each year in the UK caused by poor eyesight. Road safety charity Brake is asking the government to introduce mandatory eyesight tests for all drivers when they renew their driving licence every 10 years.
