Eventually – after many false dawns – that fell to Dutch maker of quirky supercars Spyker who – much to the amazement of all – seem to have a very cohesive forward plan for Saab. Driving through lovely, crumbly Turin, and out into the zona industriale towards Pininfaina's Cambiano base, the fear strikes: what if the car's a disappointment? What if it's simply some unremarkable supermini – maybe even an electric one?

The grill is changed, as are the wheels and rear end. The interior has very little resemblance to the R8, partly because this is an electric car and a concept.
