EAGLE COAT OF ARMS OF GERMANY PATCH. The Bundesadler (German eagle, literally "federal eagle") is the national emblem in Black, Red & Yellow Gold state flag colors.
The eagle has a long tradition, as symbol for GERMANIA. The color schemes of black-red-gold have played an important role in the history of Germany and have had various meanings. The colors of the modern flag are associated with the republican democracy formed after World War II, and represent German unity and freedom: not only the freedom of Germany, but also the personal freedom of the German people.

The coat of arms of Germany is a symbol of Germany; the coat of arms feature an eagle. The colors of the coat of arms are similar to those of the flag of Germany (black, red and gold). It is one of the oldest extant state symbols of Europe and is one of the oldest insignias in the world.
Medieval Age and Holy Roman Empire
The eagle's history as an emblem began very early. The Romans and their successors Byzantines (Greeks) reserved eagle imagery for only the most revered beings; namely, the supreme god and the emperor; and it served as a metaphor of invincibility. Later, through its rei rock eagle (adler), referred to in German as the Reichsadler, on German soil probably date back to the time of Charlemagne (742-814). Around the year 1200 the black eagle icon on a gold field was generally recognized as the imperial coat of arms.
Post-War Era
After the defeat of Germany in World War II, the German Reich continued to exist under Allied occupation until the Federal Republic of Germany was founded in 1949. In 1950, the Federal Republic incorporated the Weimar eagle, which thenceforward was called the Bundesadler ("federal eagle"), into its coat of arms. The design by Tobias Schwab dates from 1926. Since the accession of the German Democratic Republic in 1990, the Federal Eagle has been the state symbol of the reunified Germany.
Current usage
Official depictions of the eagle can be found not only in the federal coat of arms but also on the federal institutions flag, the standard of the President of Germany and official seals. These are designs by various artists of the Weimar period and differ primarily in the shape and position of the wings. A large and very plump version of the eagle decorates the chamber of the Bundestag, the German parliament, it is sometimes called "Fette Henne" (Fat Hen), with a similar representation found on the Euro coin.
FLAG OF GERMANY
The flag of Germany is a tricolour consisting of three equal horizontal bands displaying the national colours of Germany: black, red and gold.
The black-red-gold tricolour first appeared in the early 19th century and achieved prominence during the 1848 revolution. The short-lived Frankfurt Parliament of 1848–50 proposed the tricolour as a flag for a united and democratic German state. With the formation of the Weimar Republic after World War I, the tricolour was adopted as the national flag of Germany. Following World War II, the tricolour was designated as the flag of both West and East Germany. The two flags were identical until 1959, when socialist symbols were added to the East German flag. Since reunification on 3 October 1990, the black-red-gold tricolour has remained the flag of Germany. |

The new top of the range Ford Fiesta Titanium Individual
Despite the success – or perhaps because of it – Ford are having a play around with the Fiesta range and adding a new model at the top – the Fiesta Titanium Individual. The new Fiesta lineup now consists of Studio, Edge, ECOnetic, Zetec, Titanium and Zetec S, with the Individual standing at the top. The Studio now comes as either a three or five doors and gets electric windows thrown in; the new Edge range gets AirCon as standard as does the ECOnetic (something we asked for when we did the Fiesta ECOnetic review – Ford must have been listening again?

Meet the latest edition to the small Mercedes family – the Mercedes-Benz GLA, a compact ‘crossover’ SUV. The GLA is aiming to take on existing premium rivals such as the BMW X1 and Audi Q3, and may even take a chunk out of the Range Rover Evoque if it gets the opportunity. This new baby Mercedes will make its world debut at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show in September.

The BMW i3 and Volkswagen XL1 are amongst the contenders for the World Car Design of the Year award as the top 10 finalists in each category of the tenth annual World Car Awards are announced.
