Old is new again: Will a floor-hinged throttle pedal be in your future?
Thu, 02 Sep 2010If you think that every little nut, bolt, switch, gear or widget in your new car wasn't scrutinized by a team of highly educated, overworked car geeks (read: engineers), think again. A couple of recent conversations with automotive engineers confirmed that virtually nothing that goes into a car today is taken for granted. During the recent Pebble Beach weekend, I had the pleasure of spending time with an engineer for Jaguar, and the subject turned to materials used for various switches in the cabin.
LSE shows the Range Rover Sport ‘Tiret’ Coupe
Fri, 27 Mar 2009A bespoke version of the LSE Range Rover Sport Coupe - The Tiret Coupe - currently on show at the Baselworld Show in Switzerland The LSE Coupe is not quite as radical as the original Stormer Concept, but it goes a good way to addressing the style issues that surround the Land Rover version of the car; the LSE is certainly more individual. Powered by either the regular 4.2 supercharged lump (or the TDV8 as an option), the standard S/C lump can be tweaked to deliver either 480bhp or 520bhp. But even the regular S/C in the LSE comes with a tweaked ECU to deliver more power and torque than the standard unit.
Eagle builds a new E-type speedster
Mon, 27 Jul 2009By Alex Michaelides First Official Pictures 27 July 2009 17:07 Jaguar E-type specialist Eagle has unveiled the Eagle E-type speedster at the Salon Privé prestige motor show in London. The speedster, commissioned by enthusiast Dr Rick Velaj, uses a standard 1966 E-type as its base. Eagle then rebuilt it to a new sky-high specification, clad it in a one-off aluminium bodyshell, fitted it with its Supersport options (stiffer suspension, uprated brakes and modern tyres) and strapped in its own highly developed 4.7-litre straight six.
