Some say the devil is in the details, but the details are where Audi sets itself apart from the luxury field. Achim Badstuebner, Audi's head of exterior design, says the maker of sports and luxury cars is always focusing on small things--such as door handles, the C-pillars and its familiar five-spoke wheels--for design demeanor. "It should have the same power as that Audi DNA," he said on Thursday at the AutoWeek Design Forum.

We always knew electric cars would be pricey, but we were slightly taken aback by the cost of the new Mitsubishi i-MiEV coming to the UK in January 2011: it's going to cost £38,699. The i-MiEV will be one of the first battery cars on sale here, as opposed to the small-scale lease projects such as the Mini E, and will arrive around the same time as the Nissan Leaf EV. Help is at hand to trim that £39k on-the-road price tag.

THE PORSCHE Macan has been given its first public UK appearance – as the star of a Harrods window display. The world-famous department store in London’s Knightsbridge is playing host to the Macan, the 911 Turbo S, the Panamera S E-Hybrid and a scale model of the amazing 918 Spyder hybrid hypercar.
