Carb off my 2007 boat.  Engine is a Volvo-Penta 5.0 GL.  Boat ran great for awhile, then started getting very sluggish.  I ordered a new carb thinking that was the problem.  No help.  It turns out the distributor cap and rotor were completely shot, which fixed the problem.  So now I have this extra perfectly good carb.  I'd probably put a rebuild kit in it as I had it open to blow out the jets, which were perfectly clean.  I put it back together correctly, but you know how that goes.

Land Rover Range Rover [w/Gallery]

Wed, 15 Aug 2012

The first images and details of the fourth-generation Range Rover have been released, with a notable upward shift in size and 'dynamism' for the full-fat RR. The outgoing version brought with it a dramatic increase in size to make way for the smaller Sport and this new one grows to truly 'full-size' dimensions. The increase in length (no official figures have been released) is exaggerated by the canted-back nose, extended wheelbase and rear overhang and tapering roof line.

Alfa MiTo TwinAir arrives

Mon, 16 Jul 2012

Alfa Romeo has bolted the 875cc TwinAir engine from the Fiat 500 in to the MiTo to produce a congestion charge busting new MiTo. The new Alfa Romeo MiTo TwinAir is a logical move by Alfa to produce a MiTo with green credentials but which still offer a decent drive and a dose of fun. In the Fiat 500, the TwinAir engine is a bit of a hoot, sounding a bit like a cross between a lawnmower and a 2-stroke and with bags of character and lively to boot.

Petrol cars twice as likely to fail MOT on emissions

Thu, 07 Nov 2013

The latest MOT test data shows that 26.2% of all cars tested fail on excess exhaust emissions – and surprisingly petrol cars fail more than twice as often as diesels in this part of the annual roadworthiness test. According to the official Vehicle Operator and Standard Agency (VOSA) figures, which cover all of 2010 and the first nine months of 2011, 9.7% of petrol cars failed to meet MOT emissions standards compared to just 3.9% of diesels. On Bing: see pictures of the MOT test Find out how much a used car with 12 months MOT costs on Auto Trader The analysis has been carried out by fuel additive “provider” Redex, which naturally has an interest in the findings, since its products are designed to breakdown engine deposits and improve efficiency.
