Kia Urban Compact SUV Concept heading for Geneva Motor Show

Kia is teasing what looks to be an Urban compact SUV come crossover ahead of a reveal at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show. The market for funky, rufty-tufty urban crossovers started with the ugly bug (but appealing) Nissan Juke and continues apace with car makers rushing to fill a desire by car buyers for something butch and small to blat round urban landscapers. Now it looks like Kia re planning to get in on the act with a new urban runaround of their own, with the reveal of a handful of tease photos of a new concept they will be revealing at this year’s Geneva Motor Show in March.

Mini Boosts Multimedia Appeal With Gopro Filming App

THE Mini has never been camera-shy, but now the brand’s latest models can get themselves on camera easier than ever before. In what’s being touted as a world first for a car brand, a new Mini Connected App enables GoPro cameras to be controlled via the dashboard – meaning shooting a film is now as easy as changing a song on the audio unit. This makes it possible to start shooting with a camera mounted on or inside the car while travelling.

Kia Car Design Award winners announced in Beijing

The first Kia Car Design Award was successfully concluded on 20 May in Beijing, with Chinese student Li Bai being presented the prize for first place by Seon-Ho Youn, Vice President of Kia Design Center. Bai, from Tsinghua Academy of Fine Arts, became the first ever winner of the award for his Kia Rhyme Concept, described by Seon-Ho Youn as "a perfect combination of design and Chinese culture." Bai's luxury sports car concept was inspired by Chinese philosophy, which can be seen in the headlamp design that reflects the traditional Chinese Ba gua, or ‘Eight Diagrams'. These are eight diagrams used in Taoist cosmology that represent the fundamental principles of reality through three lines, each line either 'broken' or 'unbroken', representing either yin or yang.
