This: the new 2014 Range Rover Sport SVR, unveiled today and due to cost a heady £93,450. It is claimed to be the world’s fastest 4x4, thanks to a supercharged 5.0-litre V8 nabbed from the Jaguar XKR-S and boosted to 543bhp and 502lb ft of torque.

Called the M1 Hommage, the concept is exactly what it says on the tin: pay homage to the iconic M1 designed by Giorgio Giugiaro, which celebrates its 30th birthday this year. The design of the M1 Hommage concept is a thoroughly modern interpretation of the original - compete with a louvered rear window - but it has grown in size over its thirty year old forebear.

But this document puts up some real detail, and pictures of the sad decline of a once successful (particularly in the U.S.) supercar maker. De Tomaso was, for a time, a great blend of Italian style and American muscle, but it lost its way badly many years ago and, despite a few attempts to resurrect it, De Tomaso has been off the scene for a long time now.
