Top Gear Speed Week: 25 Best Performance Cars on video

Wed, 18 Jul 2012

Top Gear’s Speed Week has gathered together the 25 most inspiring performance cars for an outing at Dunsfold. It’s not the easiest trick to pull off – gathering 25 of the most inspiring performance cars of the last twelve months in one place – but Top Gear has managed it. They’ve gathered together everything from a Morgan Three-Wheeler to a Lamborghini Aventador at the Top Gear test track at Dunsfold for a serious two days of hooning and madness.

McLaren P1 production starts in Woking

Tue, 08 Oct 2013

McLaren P1 production starts in Woking The Geneva Motor Show in March saw the arrival of the first production version of the new McLaren P1 (and its arch-rival, the LaFerrari). But it’s taken until now – seven months later – for McLaren to finish final testing of the P1 before pressing the button on their clinical assembly line to start customer P1s rolling out. In between the reveal at Geneva and production starting, McLaren have been having a bash at the Nurburgring (with mixed results) and doing some final hot weather testing on the P1, but now – apart from a few inevitable tweaks once the P1 gets out in to the real world – the P1 is ready for its customers.

Driven: Mazda RX-8

The two most obvious elements of its unusual make-up are its rotary engine and rear-hinged rear doors with integral B-pillars. What became clear during our week with the RX-8 was how these two aspects of its design form the basis of many other unique qualities... Sports coupe and GT coupe The rotary engine of the RX-8 has a very distinct power delivery that is a defining part of the car's character, but it is also a very small lump of metal compared to a similarly powerful conventional reciprocating piston engine, enabling more of the car's overall length to be devoted to cabin space.
