IED reveals updated Cisitalia 202 E concept

IED will reveal the Cisitalia 202 E Concept – a modern version of the Pininfarina-designed 1947 Cisitalia 202 – at next month's Geneva motor show. Design students of the Master of Arts in Transportation Design developed the Cisitalia 202 E (Evolution) Concept at the IED in Turin as part of their work experience program during the 2010-2011 academic year. IED has announced that, "the concept faithfully reflects the design of the historic vehicle, with dimensions and power aligned with modern times." Technical partners of the project include CECOMP (prototype construction), Pirelli, OZ Racing and ABET Laminati.

We first heard news of a ‘Limited Edition’ Ferrari 599 in late October when we spoke to a guy who’d been invited to put a deposit on a ‘Special 599′. The Ford Fiesta eWheelDrive – a driveable research vehicle built by Ford and German specialists Schaeffler – may be a regular supermini in size, but it points towards a potential future EV which is much more compact and very manoeuvrable. Ford has taken a regular Fiesta and dumped its powertrain, replacing it with a battery bank where the engine would be and fitted a pair of in-hub electric motors on the rear wheels. But the plan is to build new cars with the batteries under the floor which frees up the space under the bonnet which can then be all but removed to create a very compact urban car that still has space for four.
