NAT's exclusive tie line feature allows the AA85 to be part of complex multi-unit systems as either a primary or secondary component. Pilot / Crew / All Modes Crew/passenger splits are no longer restricted to expensive multi-box systems. The AA85 features a three-position toggle switch for multiple operating modes. The ALL position permits everyone on the system to talk to each other, listen to music, and hear all radio communications. In the CREW mode, the pilot and co-pilot are isolated from the passengers. The ICS TIc line remains with the crew in crew mode. Both the crew and passengers retain full intercom and music capabilities within their group while the passengers are prevented from hearing any radio communications. AA80 Plug Compatible The AA85 is plug compatible with previous AA80 series intercoms. While minor changes to the existing wiring may be necessary, no additional connectors, jacks or modifications are required to the aircraft. Independent Crew/Passenger VOX Squelch The front panel features independent VOX squelch controls for crew and passengers. This compensates for differences in noise levels and headset types between the front and rear of the aircraft. Adjustable Music Mute and Radio Input Levels Internal adjustments provide separate controls for crew and passenger levels of music mute and radio input volume. For example, the music mute level can be adjusted to mute to 50% for the passengers and 100% for the crew. Radio volume levels could also be set at a lower level for the passengers, while maintaining optimum volume for the crew. Gradual Return of Music Mute Music muting is automatic during radio transmissions (ALL and CREW Modes) and during ICS activity. Upon conclusion of radio or ICS operation, the music gradually returns to its previous level. Emergency Fail-Safe Emergency fail-safe operation is a standard feature with the AA85.
