I have had this unit on my car for about 15 years. But the car has only 14,000 miles so there is very little use on it. It retards the spark if is detects a knock condition. The display units shows when it is retarding. It also shows the air/fuel ratio. It must be mounted inside the car, away from the heat in the engine compartment.
Comes with the original installation manual. You can look the company up online and details of how it works. My car did not turn out to have as high a compression as I thought and thus I do not need this unit. I no longer run the car at the strip and thus am not experimenting with a lot of advance in the distributor. I am no longer experimenting with jets and fuel ratio, so I no longer need to know the air/fuel ratio. Obviously, I cut the various connecting wires to length for my car, with the exception of the Dual Monitor. Depending on your setup you may need to lengthen some wires. Volvo Trucks, for its part, plans to launch a 13-liter liquefied-natural-gas engine for North America in 2014 and is set to develop a new form natural-gas fuel called DME, or dimethyl ether. Volvo looks to add the liquefied-natural-gas option to complement its compressed-natural-gas (CNG) offerings.
