Mon, 18 Jan 2010The biggest surprise at the 2010 NAIAS was GMC's Granite concept - a design that expands (or rather contracts) the truck/crossover brand's 'professional grade' philosophy to a compact hatchback aimed at urban hipsters and early adopters. Conceived by Frank Saucedo's Advanced Design team in California and then built at GM's Design Center in Detroit, the Granite combines the basic proportions of the Nissan Cube and Scion xB with a military/industrial feel inspired by the current G-Star and Diesel fashion lines. As has become the norm, we have photos of the 2013 SEAT Leon leaked out well ahead of its public debut at the Paris Motor Show in September and before SEAT has had a chance to delight us all directly. A very toned down version of the SEAT IBE Concept we saw at Geneva in 2010 and based on the VW group MQB platform that underpins the new VW Golf and Audi A3, the new SEAT Leon is the third generation of SEAT’s take on the Golf.

Wed, 16 Sep 2009By Ben Oliver Motor Shows 16 September 2009 00:01 Taking the metro to the Frankfurt motor show, I was surrounded by men whose grey suits, lapel badges and reading matter made it obvious they were car company execs heading the same way. In previous years they probably had access to the fleets of chauffeur-driven cars that used to clog the town as they shuttled from airport to exhibition hall to hotel. But Frankfurt, like every other motor show, finds itself in reduced circumstances this year. The Paris and Frankurt shows alternate, and the comparison with Paris this time last year is instructive.
